Zyter|TruCare announced today their support for the Coalition for Social Justice and People Helping People, two local organizations that are working to generate positive change in their communities, and to support those who need it most during the national COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are living in trying times. All of us are touched in one way or another by both COVID-19 and the fight for racial equality,” said Stephanie Guilbeault,Vice President of Client Success and Community at Zyter|TruCare.
The Coalition for Social Justice builds grassroots movements for social change focused on race and gender. They do this work in communities around Massachusetts by recruiting and developing leadership from low-income communities, encouraging those in lower income brackets to vote, building coalitions, and holding elected officials accountable.
“One area of focus right now is on making sure people understand how the mail-in ballot in Massachusetts works. Most of our clients live in public housing, and since we cannot physically go there now, these funds are helping us invest in technology to help us organize and have an impact remotely, mainly through text,” said Marlene Pollock, Volunteer Organizer at the Coalition. “With this technology, we can ensure that everyone’s voice is heard in this election.”
People Helping People is the food bank for the Burlington, Massachusetts area and supports those living near Zyter|TruCare Bedford headquarters. Zyter|TruCare selected the food pantry because of the correlation between unemployment caused by the national pandemic and food insecurity.
“At People Helping People, we have seen a 50% increase in people’s need for food because of COVID, and have distributed over 150,000 meals since the pandemic began,” said Jane McIninch, co-coordinator at People Helping People. “We are so grateful this donation from Zyter|TruCare, and all of our donations, as they help us support people of all ages who are experiencing food insecurity now.”
These donations are just one way that Zyter|TruCare has come together to help generate positive change within the community indirect response to the need for racial equality and for those directly affected by COVID-19.
